Hit The Lights “Invicta” Review

It was a long wait, but it was well worth it. We got a sneak peek at the end of last year and man was that amazing. Their first two albums were insanely catchy and entertaining with summer jams. They finally released another album titled Invicta. Before we start with the review be warned: They did not go full out pop-punk on this album, they grew as song writers and musicians…Shit you might say, but no need; it was for the better of the band.

The album starts out with some epic drumming and we mean epic. The drum pounding of “Invincible” was a great way to start off the kick-off song of the album. Those same big drums come back and kick ass on “Earthquake”. The whole album sounds “bigger”–nothing was left unthought of. Even the production value of this album is pretty damn incredible. Not only is the production better and bigger, but you can hear the passion behind the music. The boys of Hit the Lights really gave it all their heart on Invicta.

If you’re looking for that taste of the old Hit the Lights skip right to “All The Weight”. This will be pretty close to those older songs. A couple songs later you hit “Take Control” and you’ll find the sweet bliss of that summer jam you need when you’re driving around at night with the windows down. Although “Earthquake” could easily find itself into your summer rotation if you haven’t played it out by then.

So Hit The Lights “grew up”–so what!? They grew and their sound is as amazing as ever. Their passion shines through on this album, and it shows how amazing their musical talents are. Hit the Lights doesn’t need gimmicks or cheese to sell this album.
