How to improve your Spring semester grades

So maybe your fall grades weren’t so hot. You might have been a freshman and not used to the freedom/increased workload that college brings. Or you might be suffering from a strong bout of senioritis. Don’t despair, we here at Bro My God will give you some helpful tips on how to get your grades up! After all, a new semester is a new start.

If you follow these few, easy-to-do tips, you will surely improve your grades in the spring!

  1. Don’t skip class! This might sound like common sense, but continually skipping class means scouring for notes, possibly missing homework assignments, and just puts you behind of the curve. Professors often answer questions that you might have, too.
  2. Work out. Studies show that students (or rather, anyone) who regularly exercise have reduced levels of stress. Obviously, lower stress levels translate to higher grades, since you’re able to concentrate better.
  3. Eat better. You are what you eat, and this certainly applies to your college years! Don’t be afraid to visit the salad bar at your cafeteria, or opt for more nutritious items at the grocery store if you go shopping.
  4. Take advantage of your professor’s visiting hours. Not only can professors answer any questions you may have, since they do write the tests you take, but they always remember you for visiting them. This might be more advantageous for smaller schools where you’re graded on essays and presentations more than just Scantron exams.
  5. Similar to above, tutors are very helpful. Most schools should have free, on-campus tutors available. They’re either grad students or upper level undergrads, but either way, they know their stuff. Don’t be afraid to seek help for your difficult classes, they’re there for a reason!
  6. Sleep more. If you don’t get a solid 7-8 hours a night, you will be prone to sickness. Worse yet, you won’t be able to fully concentrate in class and when you do homework. You might have to cut back on partying/late night food runs, but sleep is worth it. Sleep also helps keep you in a shape and looking good!
  7. Don’t procrastinate (too much). If you can, try to get work done before the night before (or morning of!). Extra time to edit helps improve your papers, trust me!
